Session Information

All of my packages are based around how long the session is and how many photos are included. Each session comes with digital files + proofing galleries, which means you get to choose the photos you keep in your final gallery, presented privately online through Pixieset. Additional photos can be purchased as well if you would like. Also included is a free consultation and loads of information for session planning.

Package A

$500

This package includes 2 hours with me and 30 images. It's most suitable for newborn and extended family sessions (5+ people) and group/celebration-related sessions (ie: friends groups/baby showers).

Package B

$400

This package includes 1 hour with me and 20 images. It's most suitable for family, maternity and branding/business-related sessions. A newborn session could potentially work if you were OK with 1 hour over the standard 2 hours.

Package C

$300

This package includes 30 minutes with me and 10 images. It is most suitable for small families and solo portrait sessions. Location and dates are set by me. I usually group together a few shorter sessions back to back.

FAQ

What should I bring to my family session?

You can never be too prepared!
Always pack extra clothing for the kids, even if it’s just for the ride home. Appropriate footwear is a must too. Think about the surroundings and what the kids might get into. If we're shooting close to a lake, for example there's a good chance they might get their feet wet. Snacks/water are always a great idea. Quite often if a little one is very cranky, a snack break helps! A favourite toy, stuffie or blanket, even soother is great to bring as a backup (tucked away), if a meltdown is brewing. Bringing a large blanket that fits the family, to sit on, is a great idea as well. If possible, pack a neutral coloured blanket.

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm based out of Lake Cowichan, but travel to various spots around the Cowichan Valley for photoshoots. I love discovering new areas too, so if you have an idea of a cool location for our shoot, please pass it along and I will check it out before our big day. I sometimes travel beyond my boundary for photoshoots, ie: Parksville, Port Renfrew, Victoria area, however a travel fee will be added to your session rate. Travel rates apply to any locations outside of the Lake Cowichan/Duncan/North Cowichan area.

When will we get our photos?

I send proofing galleries about a week after our session. I will edit a portion of your final gallery about a week after selections are made so that you can get a jump start on sharing and printing photos. It's a good idea to let me know your top favourites and I will edit those first. The complete final gallery is finished typically three weeks after selections are made. Instructions on how to choose your photos and navigate the site to download them are sent at the time I email the link.

What time is the best time to shoot at?

There is a reason why golden hour is so sought after by photographers. That soft, warm lighting is extremely flattering. Golden hour varies depending on the time of year. During summer months it can be fairly late, 7:30-8:30 p.m. or even later. If that doesn't work with your children's bedtime schedules, we can look for a location that might offer shade/treed areas to filter the light. I like to avoid mid-day photoshoots all together, in open areas with no shade coverage.
