Summer Family Session, The Spooner Family

The San Juan River is stunning! It’s located on the way to Port Renfrew and it’s a favourite spot to camp and explore for the Spooner family. Carla asked if I’d be willing to meet them there. At first I was a bit leery as it’s a totally new location for me to shoot at and a little out of the ways. I wasn’t sure if I could get the timing right for the best light, etc. Anyways it was lovely!

Summer Family Session, The Seyfrieds

I met the Seyfried family this summer at the lovely Chemainus Kinsmen Beach. There’s something about that sea wall that I just love, plus the beautiful pops of pink certainly draw me in every time I visit. PS: I loved how the fallen petals created an almost pink bokeh in those mom and daughter photos.

Parksville Beach Session, The Kolks

I’ve photographed the Kolk family three times now. I remember the first time she reached out to me about a session, I was a little bit nervous as their family includes three boys. You know they always say boys are wild and crazy… now their mother Carly may disagree, but man these boys were complete angels. Seriously!

Year in Review, 2018

Every year I take this opportunity to not only create a post of favourite images, but also to reflect on my experiences and highlights. The biggest accomplishment was simply getting to a point I could finally say, and announce on social media, that I will only be taking on family related sessions in 2019 (ie: maternity, newborn, family and children’s portraits). It’s not because I hate capturing weddings, or business portraits, for example, it’s more about discovering my passion and honing in on it so I can create the best experiences possible for clients.

Winter Minis, Tree Farm Sessions

This year’s Winter Sessions took place at the amazing Christmas tree farm, Middlemiss Farms in the beautiful (and SUNNY yay!) countryside of Glenora. Who doesn’t love tree farm photos? I loved how clients outfits, especially ones with red, looked amongst the greens from the trees.

Family Mini Beach Session, Cowichan Bay

Every time I meet this family for photos, it’s always so fun and casual. We’ve gotten to know each other well and being comfortable with each other makes the session go so smooth. It’s amazing to see (and capture) their daughter as she grows and that love and connection they have with her. Thanks R+J for being you and so AWESOME!

Family Mini Beach Session, Chemainus

This family was so cute! AND nice! I met them recently at Kinsmen Park Beach in Chemainus for a Family Mini Session. It was calling for a low-tide, and although it wasn't as low as we hoped, we still had fun playing on the beach. It's definitely one of my favourite places to take families.

Summer Session, The Belanger Family

This session was so amazing for a number of reasons. I've known this family for some time so it was great to catch up and capture their little guy, Walker's milestones, which included standing up, taking steps and almost walking on his own, and most importantly rock collecting and discovering so many "clues" on that river bed. I joked with his mom that I almost felt like photoshopping a magnifying glass in his hand.

Summer Minis, Lavender Farm Sessions

This year marked my third year offering family sessions at the Cowichan Valley Lavender Farm and Labyrinth on Wicks Road in Duncan. I fell in love with the farm the first time I visited it and I got really lucky to get to know the owners, who are extremely nice and outgoing people. Each year I take some photos of the lavender and their kids for them as well. This year, I decided to cut back on how many families I would take on for these lavender sessions.
