Newborn Session, Baby Noah

Alisha was the winner of this year’s Gratitude Giveaway of a full session with me. I host the giveaway in September to celebrate the day when I officially launched my business. It’s become quite a big giveaway and I always look forward to it. Alisha messaged me right away, telling me they were expecting a baby boy soon and that she wanted to use the session for newborn photos.

Maternity Sessions, Karen + Michelle

The Winter is always my off-season for photography although it seems this year I’ve been pretty busy and consistent. This is also the time of year where I do things like set goals, work on my parenting blog, update my website, prepare my tax return (NO FUN!) and this year I took a really amazing photography e-course. AND I also use this time to build my portfolio and do a couple free, creative shoots.

Year in Review, 2018

Every year I take this opportunity to not only create a post of favourite images, but also to reflect on my experiences and highlights. The biggest accomplishment was simply getting to a point I could finally say, and announce on social media, that I will only be taking on family related sessions in 2019 (ie: maternity, newborn, family and children’s portraits). It’s not because I hate capturing weddings, or business portraits, for example, it’s more about discovering my passion and honing in on it so I can create the best experiences possible for clients.

Winter Minis, Tree Farm Sessions

This year’s Winter Sessions took place at the amazing Christmas tree farm, Middlemiss Farms in the beautiful (and SUNNY yay!) countryside of Glenora. Who doesn’t love tree farm photos? I loved how clients outfits, especially ones with red, looked amongst the greens from the trees.

Newborn Session, Baby Penelope

Dan and Sarah welcomed me into their cozy home recently to capture this special time with their newest addition, Baby Penelope. We hung out quite a bit in big sis, Eve’s room (where the lighting was awesome) and she was comfortable. She grabbed her favourite books to read with her family, even her toy camera and took a few snaps of me.

Newborn Session, Baby Ivan

I had the pleasure of recently meeting the nicest new parents and cutest little guy (and their sweet, fluffy dog too). They just finished building a beautiful new home and welcomed Baby Ivan a little earlier than expected but they’re now super settled and cozied up in their new space, which is stunning I must say.

Family Mini Beach Session, Cowichan Bay

Every time I meet this family for photos, it’s always so fun and casual. We’ve gotten to know each other well and being comfortable with each other makes the session go so smooth. It’s amazing to see (and capture) their daughter as she grows and that love and connection they have with her. Thanks R+J for being you and so AWESOME!

Family Mini Beach Session, Chemainus

This family was so cute! AND nice! I met them recently at Kinsmen Park Beach in Chemainus for a Family Mini Session. It was calling for a low-tide, and although it wasn't as low as we hoped, we still had fun playing on the beach. It's definitely one of my favourite places to take families.

Summer Session, The Belanger Family

This session was so amazing for a number of reasons. I've known this family for some time so it was great to catch up and capture their little guy, Walker's milestones, which included standing up, taking steps and almost walking on his own, and most importantly rock collecting and discovering so many "clues" on that river bed. I joked with his mom that I almost felt like photoshopping a magnifying glass in his hand.

Summer Minis, Lavender Farm Sessions

This year marked my third year offering family sessions at the Cowichan Valley Lavender Farm and Labyrinth on Wicks Road in Duncan. I fell in love with the farm the first time I visited it and I got really lucky to get to know the owners, who are extremely nice and outgoing people. Each year I take some photos of the lavender and their kids for them as well. This year, I decided to cut back on how many families I would take on for these lavender sessions.

Summer Session, The Chanasyk Family

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a local family who I met through my son's hockey team, the kid's schools and also their golf course in Honeymoon Bay (we have lots in common!) They are such a nice family and it was a fun session, with three crazy cute brothers. They were busy, but hilarious and we talked about Lego and their favourite movies/shows etc. and of course I pulled out the bubbles for a bit too.
